Southwest

The Southwest Respiratory Network improves care for respiratory patients through improving the quality, availability and accessibility of services, as well as adopting and spreading effective, innovative practice.

Our aim is to reduce premature mortality from respiratory disease, to reduce variation in care and subsequent health outcomes, to improve quality of life and optimise respiratory health.

The South West Strategic Clinical Network funds us with some project-specific funding from the Peninsula Academic Health Science Network, which also hosts us.

We are currently working on several programmes which include: inhaler training; specialised respiratory commissioning; respiratory care bundles; children and young people with asthma as part of a national project; oxygen procurement; and smoking and respiratory disease within mental health.
