On 17th September 2015, the Royal College of Physicians launched two new reports on commissioning, contracting and NHS payment systems in England.
The first major policy report, Putting the pieces together: Removing the barriers to excellent patient care, highlights how patient care risks being undermined by a fragmented system and short-term planning. Drawing on feedback from physician specialties, it considers how we can improve the way that commissioning, contracting and payment systems work for patients in the NHS.
This report has been developed on the basis of input from council, specialty societies, JSCs and external partners including NHS Providers and NHS Clinical Commissioners.
The guide is launched alongside 'How physicians can influence the commissioning system', of which more information can be found here.
