East Midlands Respiratory Programme
The East Midlands region covers 300 square miles, and serves a population of round 4.8 million people. We currently have 9 acute hospital trusts, 19 CCGs, and over GP 600 practices.
Within the East Midlands, respiratory continues to be one of the highest average cost per item, of around £15 per item. Respiratory accounts for approx. 7% of items prescribed, and 13% of total prescribing cost.
Like many other regions, our aims are to reduce unwarranted variation that we know exists, improve patient outcomes and quality of life for those living with a respiratory condition, and work collaboratively to deliver these aims and reduce costs.
The East Midlands Respiratory Programme currently consist of a team of two clinical leads and a network manager plus project support from the East Midlands Clinical Networks.
Clinical Lead & Respiratory Consultant - University of Nottingham, and Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) Trust
Respiratory Nurse Consultant - University Hospitals Leicester, Glenfield
Co-supported by EM SCN and EM AHSN.
